HELEN H. OTA

Helen H. Ota is a member of the Grateful Crane Ensemble and has performed with them since 2005, including their 2016 and 2018 Tohoku, Japan Goodwill Tours. She also performed with COLD TOFU Improv for 25 years and served as its Artistic Director for 19 years. In 2009, Helen co-founded Yes, And…Productions with her fiancé, Mike Palma, and produced Songs for A New World and the Los Angeles premiere of the musical, Ordinary Days. Some of her stage credits include Nihonmachi, Misora Hibari: A Tribute to a Legend, Ordinary Days, Songs for a New World, and Manzanar: Story of An American Family. Helen currently works for the Japanese American Cultural & Community Center as its Vice President of Institutional Advancement. She is also active in the community serving as a board member of the Nisei Week Foundation, Zentoku Foundation, and Veterans Memorial Court Alliance, and is an Advisory Council member of Kizuna.
